Desmo Due, seemed like a good idea.

Apart from hoping to get an entry for Emily and Stuart later in the year I thought it was time to get something off the bucket list. So with that I've signed up with Hottrax for an ACU test day in February to hopefully get a licence and actually have a go at this racing malarkey.
So a little 600 (583cc) has been purchased and duly taken it's place in the conservatory.

Of course these things are never that simple as I've already discovered with Emily last year, so the first thing to do is start again.

Now I do know the previous owner was a bit rushed in putting the bike together to sell so I'll overlook the loose sprocket, loose shock mounting bolt and other general tardiness that would have made this bike unsafe to ride anywhere. I knew that I had to re shim the swing arm but didn't expect to find it distorted when I took out the rear wheel. It spreads by about 5mm when the axle is undone so that'll have to go along with my personal pet hate of tie wraps that aren't trimmed!
On the up side she just about runs and performed OK with 47bhp at the rear wheel, the class allows for 53 so I plan to set the squish and have the cams dialled in to eek out a couple more ponies.

On the whole my plan/hope is to keep this build on the light side and just enjoy the experience of racing as opposed to track day politeness. So a finish with a smile will be my goal for Brands Hatch in March. Wish me luck.
